On top of the 8-foot models are located three
motors which help regulate the air flow inside the hood. These motors have
been installed in such a way as to minimize inconvenience during
maintenance. On bigger size models, such as the 10 foot and 12 foot units,
six motors are used instead of three. The motors are protected from the
heat by means of a 1/4 inch stainless steel plate. The stainless steel
plate is used in order to reduce maintenance cost as compared to older
units which use gasket material. |

At the entry and
exit points of the Vapor Hood, sliding doors have been placed which allows
for various sizes of glass containers to be processed, and at the same
time reduce energy losses in the system. Two winches, located on one side
of the hood for simplicity of operation, are used to lower and raise the
sliding doors. |

The Vapor Hood can be easily installed at the exit
point of any existing lehr and can be adpated to any required size with
minimal modifications in the design. The entry and exit points of the hood
have been designed to be wide enough to avoid problems with the flow of
the ware. |

Another Important part of the Vapor Hood is the
electrical control cabinet which is mounted on the side of the unit. The
electrical controls assure that the precise conditions are present inside
the hood's oven in order to obtain optimum results in the coating process.
Digital thermometers monitor the temperature on the 'far' end of the hood,
allowing operating personnel to observe working conditions without having
to go back and forth from one side of the hood to the other. |

Two vapor boxes have been placed one on each side of the unit. These vapor boxes contain the instruments which dictate the amount of coating that is to be sprayed onto the glass. Inside the vapor
boxes, a 'clean-out plug' has been included. The purpose of the plug is to
provide an easy way of cleansing the pipes that guide the vapor into the
coating area. Another special feature of the vapor boxes is a glass door
mounted on the front of each box. This provides a clear view of the
control instrumentation and eliminates the need for unnecessary opening
and closing of the box while monitoring the unit. |
